However you access the coll, the data values are sent out of output 1 and the corresponding line number or symbol is sent out of output 2.

it is actually index which can also be a symbol

Hey Andy, I'm with you, Im not sure what this dude is worked up about, but please know that i appreciate your help...

Anyway, the patch is a scale grimoire, i can input the scale along with its conventional name as a symbol associated or [nstore],  but id like to be able to scroll thru with (next) or whatever and have it kick back the symbolic name. Ive worked around it by making element 1 of the index hold the symbolic name, which is fine, but it seems counterintuitive that i can't grab the symbolic name.

I did read the coll help prior to asking my question, and here is the result i got from trying to adopt that patch:

I think the associated symbol is a special feature just for calling an entry
and thus not sent to the 2nd outlet of coll.
But why don't you use the symbol alone without index number?

Right I think you’re right. 

i wan to be able to scroll thru the coll numerically, and if I’m not mistaken, you can write the entry with a symbol directly, but I don’t think you can scroll through numerically when only a symbol is present. Let’s say I need to call an entry from another patch which references that coll, I will have to input the sumbol in order to call it. Thwill prove awkward - I really need to be able to call an entry numerically and have it show me the symbol associated with what I just called numerically. 

it’s basically a slonimsky-style thesaurus in a coll that needs to operate aleatorically, so having the computer call names of scales randomly won’t work without an integer reference.

The notarisation succeeds, but the standalone starts with plenty of errors like

mxo/Contents/MacOS/fseventwatcher) not valid for use in process using Library Validation: mapping process and mapped file (non-platform) have different Team IDs

this is a tricky problem, and I solved it for my app:

unfortunately still not solved...: 
I just tried the following: i codesigned every file in Untitled1.app (more than 1.000), without --options runtime. 
I additonally codesigned Resources/MaxPluginScanner and some other with --options runtime. But not Contents/MacOS/Untitled1  itself.
Now Untitled1.app starts without error.  So better. But notarisation fails only because Contents/MacOS/Untitled1 is not hardened. Now i run codesign with --options runtime on Contents/MacOS/Untitled1. Result: My Untitled1.app immediately crashs.

The issue discussed above  was resolved by Ben Bracken on that topic's page: https://cycling74.com/forums/issue-with-code-signing-mac-standalones-with-hardened-runtime 

The bottom line is that for the runtime-hardened (a requirement for notarization)  code signed standalone (generated with Max 8.3.1) to load externals and work correctly, code signing must be done while adding the entitlements option with a proper entitlements file.  See that topic for more detail.

I need to send an object (using dict) that looks like this:

The documentation for maxurl seems to imply that I can just send a dictionary as post_data and it will encode properly, but unfortunately it seems to send a malformed object. This is what shows up in my server:

I'm trying to figure out how I can achieve 2 oscillators which are exactly the same with 2 different methods:

My approach could be a bit strange, but I'm feeding a cycle into a change~ then scale it 0-1 and output it directly to the dac. I wanted to "simulate" the logic of analog circuit square waves, which also only work with "Hi and low". So I want an oscillator that works with 0 and 1 basically. (Of course I can't simulate the analog circuit 100% but the idea is clear I think)

For my project however I also need a non signal rate oscillator (for controlling a sequencer), which has to be exactly the same as the signal rate one. (I like the idea of having "the same" oscillator for the sequencing and the sound:))

I tested it with a conversion via snapshot with the vector size at 1. To hear it I of course have to convert it back to the signal world (sig~), which at low frequencies of the oscillator works, but at higher frequencies distorts.

Could it be because the sig~ object isn't fast enough to match the speed of the signal rate oscillator?
