, the classic Moog ladder filter simulation originally implemented in Pure Data by Miller Puckette.

bob~ models the Moog transistor ladder using Runge–Kutta numerical integration of a nonlinear differential equation, following work by Stilson, Stinchcombe and Huovilainen. It’s a very interesting approach compared to more common digital ladder approximations, because the solver integrates the circuit dynamics directly and includes a nonlinear saturation stage.

The port happened a bit unexpectedly: during a recent training session, a student brought up the original bob~ implementation and we started discussing it. That conversation made me want to port it to Max and make it available as a simple external.

 and contributors for the original bob~ implementation in Pure Data.

If anyone finds it useful, or wants to experiment further with nonlinear ladder models inside Max, feel free to use or modify it.

I'm trying to figure out a way to implement a physical mass-spring-damper model in Max. Does anybody have an idea how I could do that?

I want to connect 5 faders with imaginary springs with each other. If I move one it should affect the others.

I figured out that there were a bunch of pmpd objects, that did the job, and where you could even define the damping and stiffness of the springs. Unfortunately these object don't seem to work anymore.

I'm trying to make an abstracted UI object in a bpatcher where one argument is the number of outlets. Since these will be created upon its instantiation, they also need to be addressed individually, so they're assigned scripting names as they're created. 

Where I'm getting hung up is: using sprintf to try to send a message to any of these outlets. All I need is to send a bang through one of the outlets at random, but I'm getting an error message 'outlet does not understand "bang"' or 'outlet does not understand "int"', when I've tried using a 1 instead. I'm not sure what's causing this, since in my other experience, [outlet] generally just passes anything it receives.

As far as I can tell, sprintf is my best bet here bc it gives me the flexibility to create and address any number of outlets. Why doesn't sprintf want to let me send data to outlets?

I'd like to create a patch with a logarithmic frequency scale between 0 and 20 kHz. I move a slider that selects a frequency, and I'd like to animate a second area around that frequency. However, I'd like this area to have a fixed frequency. For example, +/- 500 Hz, so if I'm at 400 Hz, I want this area to be between 0 and 900 Hz, and I want this area to be animated logarithmically.

I've made a first patch, but I can't seem to animate this area logarithmically. It's a real-time scale, and as a result, the animation isn't working properly.

I'm trying to slice a sample based on transient detection. I currently have a gen~ patch (attached) that detects transients and their position in samples (using accum). 

What I'm struggling to do right now is to tie it to a groove~ position (from 0. to 1.) I've tried using delta~, but I get a lot of noise when I try to move it from MSP to Max world.

So, ideally, I would like to store indexes (slice numbers) inside coll, where each row will contain slice number and position in range of 0. to 1. (rather than in samples).

I need to constrain a UI object to only allow for selection of even numbers between 2 and 254.   Not a hard thing (see patch)...

...but I have additional constraints that need to be considered:

It seems to me that the explanation of hop size in the pfft~ Reference under Overlap Factor is a bit unclear, or at least to me.

Under fftsize right before that, it says:

First, it says that the hop size is the fft size divided by the overlap factor, but then in parentheses, it says that the frame size is to be divided by the overlap factor. But the frame size is only half the fft size (as stated in the second quote).

Assuming, the fft size is 4096 samples, then the size of one spectral frame is 2048 samples. Overlap factor is 4. What would be the hop size? 1024 or 512? 

I have always understood the hop size to refer to the FFT size, not the spectral frame size.
