**My goal:** Load this MP3 file into a `[buffer~]` so I can play it back.

**What I've tried:**

1. **Direct URL to buffer~** - Doesn't work, the URLs have CORS/403 protection
2. **Node for Max with http/https modules** - Gets HTTP 403 errors from the server
3. **curl/wget via shell** - Also blocked with 403
4. **yt-dlp** - Permission and dependency issues

Here is a handy patch to zoom/resize dynamically AND edit settings on the fly without ever leaving presentation view.  

Once set, hovering over the various UI objects will report window size to prepare for next action, keeping Max zoom and presentation resizing in sync.  It uses their scripting names to trigger the action.

Open the first patch and drag window around, adjust zoom with menu and INCDEC, click expand tab back and forth.  Everything should stay synced.

To change settings from a locked presentation: click EDIT.

- Drag window around and/or drag height/width to desired INITIAL settings.

- Drag width of window to desire location to desired variable width.

Activating / Deactivating EDIT MODE switches between grow and nogrow window flags, to prevent scrolling while locked.

Also great for finished standalones and Max4Live, to bring zoom/resize functionality to other targets.  Just delete the EDIT button (or remove from presentation view) when set.

NOTE: when back in patching view, don't forget to enable disable grow/nogrow windowflags as needed.

Also a little hidden feature... ZOOMZOOM... when Max's idea of 100% just isn't enough.  Just enter a float factor so that your "100%" can be whatever you want, regardless of actual patch zoom.

Two patches attached. One expanded example with annotations and one clean-ish encapsulated version with EDIT MODE in a popup window.  The second version is easier to drop into existing patches or as a template to start a patch from scratch with the features already baked in.

I hope someone can get some good use out of this. Bit of a mess, but it works great so far.   Many thanks for all the incredible help provided here in the forum. It's nice to contribute back.  Many thanks to Joe Kaplan, whose JS window offset saved the day.

i am working on a project that generates a series of binary numbers i.e. 1 0 1 1 0

but i wish to export these in the format, using the example above, 1 2

another example just to make it clear would be that the system spits out 1 1 1 0 1, and i would want that to display as 3 1

basically, add adjacent numbers in the list but ignore 0

i'm sure there's a very obvious answer that i'm missing but if anyone can help, it would be massively aprpeciated!

I can't send OSC messages anymore from Max to Open Stage Control. Both programs are opened on the same computer  and I'm using 

 address in the udpsend object. The computer is running macOS Sonoma.

I'm not sure it is linked because I haven't opened my patcher for some time but I suspect it might have something to do with the upgrade from 9.0.7 to 9.1.1. Has some setting about OSC been introduced between these two versions I should be aware of?

Hello, I am new to this forum, so please be clement. I don't like to be reductionist, but for reasons I hope you understand, I have chosen to simplify my question by giving a simplified example that clearly illustrates my problem. 

I have a patch with three identical mc.function objects (same range and domain), each with two channels. Every time I modify one of these, the remaining objects must show the same curve for their respective channels, so that if I modify the curve of channel 2 of “funcA,” the same curve is faithfully reproduced in channel 2 of ‘funcB’ and “FuncC.” It's a sort of virtual link. I'm trying with a pair of sends and receives, but I'm not sure what the right formula is to send as a list to the various func. At the same time, I don't think I'm that comfortable using pattr. I've been advised to use a buffer to record the curves each time, but the original patch is already quite heavy and I don't want to complicate it further.

If it helps to understand the context of the general problem, the patch containing mc.function is loaded by poly~. I'm sure there's an easy way to handle this, but I don't know why I ended up in a loop of unnecessary complications that I can't get out of. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Im creating a picture slider using PNG images. My BG only has 1 pic, my slider has 127. I can't get the slider image to properly slide through, for some reason it always goes through twice. attached are the pngs and below is the patch. Thanks! Edit - the slider png won't attach. It's horizontal, 127 images. Everything's correct with it as far as I see.

Edit: If anyone runs into this in the future, knobman makes a "stitched PNG" which is one file with all frames of the animation of the knob one after the other. the Pictslider object only needs a single image and it takes care of the "animation"/movement of the image itself.

Hello, I'm sending visuals from touch designer via spout to access them in Max. I'm using jit.gl.spoutreceiver and sending that from a jit.pworld into some matrix objects to sonify the original texture. It works when I do one jit.

 and matrix, but when I add a second instance for another spout stream, it won't convert, even though I can see the texture being rendered in the jit.pworld. 

I thought it could be an issue with the naming of the matrix and world objects but that doesn't seem to be working. 

I'm not super experienced with jitter so not sure if I'm missing something obvious, or whether it's an issue with having  multiple spout streams. 

Any tips in the right direction would be greatly appreciated :)

Just wanted to share an issue I ran into recently with Max not launching, in case it helps someone else out there.

I’m running Max 9.0.5 on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 (Apple Silicon), and things were working totally fine until one day the application just stopped launching. It would open, hang, and never respond. I’d get the beachball, and eventually I had to force-quit. No error message, no crash popup — just a frozen Max.

 my annual Max subscription renewed. I noticed that Max asked to be reauthorised, but I wasn’t able to complete the process due to network access issues. After I closed the app, I couldn’t get it to run again. It would just hang on launch every time after that.

I went through pretty much everything you’d expect. I deleted preferences, removed all third-party externals and packages, tried launching Max from a new user account, reinstalled multiple versions of Max (both older and newer), even reinstalled macOS — all while preserving my files — but nothing worked. It felt like the app was cursed.

Eventually I took a look at the macOS crash logs and noticed that Max was getting stuck during startup on a system-level call related to network sockets. The process was basically sitting idle, waiting on a response that never came. One line stood out:
