Hi, I am trying to create a standalone app. I have created my patch and everything is working fine, it is making noise. I have it configured for presentation mode, everything is working fine and it is making noise. When I then create my standalone it no longer makes noise. 

I can see the soundfiles playing in the audio meters and I have created a troubleshooting area where you can select the Scarlett Focusrite audio driver, it appears to be selected but there is no communication between the standalone and the Focusrite interface. What have I missed out? 

I have gone through adding a standalone object and searched for missing files. I have re-written the app making extra sure the sound files have been copied in the application. I don't think it is a missing files problem

Sometimes when I CTRL+Click to switch into or out of edit mode, a tiny box appears in the corner of the patch and hovering over a seemingly random area of the patch turns the mouse pointer from an arrow to an open hand. If I click and drag with the hand, it moves the little box around.

It sometimes makes it impossible to move objects around in the window.

I can't figure out what it causing this to happen or how to consistently set things back to a normal state (i.e. no hand pointer, no tiny box).

Does anyone know what I might be doing to cause this?

I'm new to MAX, I am currently working on a project in Max/MSP where I need to convert audio signals to MIDI, record the MIDI data, and ensure accurate pitch detection and MIDI note sequencing. I'm using the [sigmund~] object for pitch detection and the [seq] object to handle MIDI recording. My current setup is designed to send MIDI 'note-on' messages when [sigmund~] outputs a pitch value greater than 0, and 'note-off' messages when the output is -1500. However, I'm experiencing instability with pitch detection and timing issues in the sequence of note-on, pitch, and note-off messages.

Using [sigmund~] to detect pitch. Facing issues with instability in the pitch values detected.

 Using [pipe] to manage the timing sequence of 'note-on', pitch number, and 'note-off' messages. I'm not sure if this is the best approach.

I would appreciate any advice on the following:

: Are there alternative objects or methods I can use instead of [sigmund~] for more stable and accurate pitch detection?

 Is there a more efficient way to manage the timing and sequencing of MIDI messages than using [pipe]?

Any tips, examples, or insights you could share would be greatly appreciated!

I'm creating a pretty large audio reactive particles (and more) patch, my first patch this size. Close to the end of building the patch, the audio, and, by the looks of it, most of the processing has dramatically slowed down to where its playing my tracks at half speed with lots of clicking and artifacts. 

I tried checking the CPU usage and it says its averaging at 0.7%. Even after deleting a few of the more demanding elements its still an issue. I've also tried reducing unnecessary constant processing in the background, and as many unnecessary display elements as I can but it's still the same.  Yesterday I removed some metro objects that were running faster than the world fps (30) and thought that fixed it, but it's still happening.

Also, another potentially related issues: whenever I play stems from my breakbeat tracks it never plays them in sync and it's very noticeable.

I'm pretty new to max so I'm not sure if I've done a lot of things, like the controls, in a more complicated way than needed and that's the issue. 

This is for an assessment due in about one week, I've worked so hard on it and really enjoyed it but now I'm just worried I've added too much, unless there's another fixable issue I'm missing.

(Apologies for the gaps, was trying to show how it worked better upon loading and just had difficulty moving through the patch as even that's kinda laggy)

My last update to 8.6 seems to have written over my externals folder meaning I’ve lost a few very important externals. The mptcfs_sa~ from MsPinky is now missing and judging by the lack of communication from them, it seems they are no longer in operation and I don’t have a back up anywhere. Is there a way to recover historical externals, are they living somewhere out of site on my computer that I’m missing

I'm sending texts from Max to a Thermal Printer via Arduino.

After trying many different methods, I think Max cannot send more than 38 characters to the printer using the serial object. So I'm wondering if a string data is longer than 38 characters, detect the last word and send it as a separate string. 

Because texts have to be sent as ASCII characters to Arduino, my thought was to search the last 32 (which is space as an ASCII character) from the string data and split the string from that... I'm not sure whether it's possible in Max.

Or maybe the problem is that I didn't find a way to send more than 38 characters to the Thermal printer...

jit.catch doesn't react the same way as jit.rgb2luma does. So I need to convert it to something.
