I need to scroll through the various steps of the live.step object.

I've set up my live.step object to be editable with a variable number of steps, but if I go from 8 steps to 64, the object zooms out to show all the steps.

My goal is to always have the Live.step window display 8 steps, even when the object is set to 16 or something else, but to be able to manually scroll through the subsequent steps when "the sequencer is turned off."

Is it possible to use a slider object as a service for a Live.step object?

Hey I just wrote a patch that dumps a dict in max format, including any nested data. So if you are like me and just want to get everything out of any dict to max at once here is a solution in pure max without js.

Just send the patcher your dictionary name and it spits out the entire dictionary with nested data and arrays using max syntax.

this is super handy if you then dynamically use the forward object to distribute the data (also in the patch).

I found this really frustrating to make, especially as the gettype request does not distinguish between a dictionary and a one element array, so the work around is to reset one-element-arrays converting them to their content and removing the [] array symbols.

There is no documentation anywhere, so I have no idea what intended behavior is.

I cannot figure out for the life of me the relationship between "Follow Live Theme" in any setting and my M4L device which gets completely re-styled every time I switch the "Color Theme".

In the past changing theme would change the colors of the things like the window frames, and Max console without affecting the patcher window.  Now I find no way to change the general GUI elements independently of the patches/devices I'm working on.

There is no documentation anywhere, so I have no idea what intended behavior is.

I am using a time-code display (metro + transport) with an external monitor to avoid the need for a click-track in a piece of mine. The output from the transport object is sent to a group of ints (bar number, beat, etc.) which update on each change, allowing the performers to follow along visually. Among other things, I use a panel covering the whole screen which should flash on every new measure. The problem is that, although the CPU is only running at around 20%, there is a huge lag on the elements of the time-code updating on the display, most notably when changing the bgcolor of the panel object (which seems to occur almost randomly). Everything else that is dependent upon the time-code for triggering is working fine... This led me to conclude that these types of display update messages are, by default, treated as low priority by Max. I can understand that in most cases, this would be a good idea, but given that I am using a time-code which has to be very precisely in time, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make this kind of process high priority? (...assuming that this is the cause of the problem.) I have searched for answers on here and elsewhere on the internet but to no avail. Help very much appreciated.

I have an abstraction that contains some audio objects.

The abstraction is placed in a locked patcher and fully loaded. The abstraction patcher itself is locked too. There is no patch editing going on whatsoever. I am not adding nor removing any objects. 

I simply want to double click the abstraction during a performance to open it in the presentation mode in an always-on-top window, control some parameters and then close the window again.

Whenever I open the abstraction window or close it, the audio drops out.

This can't be a normal state of things in Max MSP, I hope. 

How can I keep my GUI based on abstraction pop up windows without audio drop outs?

Please help. Opening an abstraction window or changing the window size causes audio drop out.

The included patch, that simply use [abl.dsp.prism~]'s freeze feature, will work as expected the first time I open the patch. But when I close it and reopen it, it doesn't work anymore.

I need to restart Max9 to get it working again! And sometimes even after restarting Max  the patch doesn't work!

I tried on intel and ARM Macs, macOS13, macOS14.

I've been building a poly synth that supposed to incorprate both substractive synthesis and granular synthesis. Essentialy the idea is to have two synths running in parallel and then add them together to get a combination of both. The granular "voice" is based on Oliver Thurleys granular tutorial, but I've really been struggling to make it truly polyphonic, as the poly object he uses generates the actual cloud of the grains, rather than doing what it's "supposed to" by allowing the playing of chords. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this please let me know!

After a few minutes of using the [snapshot~] it stops working or samples in a random manners, only if I shut the program and restart it, or disconnect [snapshot~] from its wires and undo it, or delete it and then undo it back it returns to work properly.

(The problem goes just the same with the [number~] which release its values as a floats from it's right outlet) .

The s2m wacom object is real old now, I've been trying for months to get my app past apple notarization but the s2m.wacom object is too old to fly.
