I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how pattrstorage works in conjunction with the presets object.  What I try to do:

Each time I load a new device, the preset slots should be empty. Now I change values and add presets to the device one by one. 

When I save the device with an Ableton set, I want those snapshots to be saved with it. But only in this instance of the device. So snapshots that save with the Ableton file. But not global presets.

Is this possible or is there a better way of doing this?

I’m trying to create a standalone RNBO program that uses the moon phase as a parameter to control various elements inside my patch.

I set up a Node.js script on a Raspberry Pi that outputs a value (Illum parameter) based on the moon phase.

On my computer, the RNBO program reads this parameter without any issues. However, when I run the same setup on the Raspberry Pi, RNBO does not seem to receive or respond to the parameter at all.

I’m not sure where the problem is coming from. 

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what I might be missing?

I have this patch with phasor~ @lock 1 into delta~ into <~ 0. into edge~ to create a bang to trigger a counter, which works exactly as I want it - except for the very first time I load the device, since I guess the delta~ needs to see at least one change in order to function. It needs to primed so to speak. Now usually I could loadmess a 1 into the right inlet of my phasor~ but this only works when it's free running, not locked. Any other way I can get this to work on the very first play?

I have a Max for Live device that uses an abstraction. The Max device is frozen.

I adjusted the abstraction to add some improvements.

When I open and unfreeze the Max device, it still uses the old abstraction, which now lives in the Max for Live Devices folder. The new version of the abstraction is located inside the discarded subfolder. I would expect the opposite. Why discard another/newer version of a patcher that was not even part of the device?

Replacing the old patcher file with the new one breaks existing objects. Creating new ones works, of course. Even if replacing files would work, it would kind of defeat the purpose of abstractions as reusable objects. I shouldn't deal with file management.

What is the best way to have devices always use the abstractions from my Library folder rather than unfrozen ones?

I ran into something weird with poly~ and I can't fully explain it.

I wrapped a heavy subpatcher (groove~, FluCoMa objects, AUReverb2) inside [poly~ compex_sampler.maxpat 1]. When I enable it, DSP Status shows ~13% CPU. When I disable it with enable 0, it jumps to ~33%.

I'm on a Mac Studio. My guess is that poly~ spreads the load across multiple cores, so the DSP monitor (which maybe only reads the main audio thread?) shows less. Disabling it collapses everything back onto one thread.

Is that the right explanation? Is DSP Status only showing one thread?
