I'm evaluating the trial version of Max. I have it set to light mode -- dark mode is hard to read in general because of vision problems.

When the theme is set to light mode or solarized, the text disappears on RNBO patches, probably due to black text on a black background. Here's a screenshot of the example one.

I am trying to overlay two images, and to run a horizontal band vertically down the image, which pulls out the alpha, revealing the 2nd image below... I would love to do this in the most efficient way but have not spent a whole lot of time in jitter / open gl. I can make this effect quite easily in Resolume, running a 'horizontal line generator' that animates scrolling lines, fuzzing them a bit to get a transparent-white-transparent gradient band passing vertically, and then masking the below image with that, which reveals the 2nd image below that...

Any help achieving this in Max would be really appreciated. I've scoured the forums but haven't found much that has worked for me...

Hi all. I'm new to programming in Max. I'm using Max for Live. I'm adding a small UI to my device/patch, which only does MIDI processing and no audio processing. I'm trying to figure out how to monitor time and resources spent drawing and handling the GUI components. I'm considering using the 'jsui' object to draw some parts of it. But I don't see how to monitor or analyze the various drawing and UI operations take from the documentation, so I don't really have a foothold on what to prioritize. Max is running all of this code in a managed environment, so I've probably just missed finding something. Any help? Thanks!

Real Time Pitch to Midi 1.0 - Capture.amxd

A complete M4L blockhead here, hi. I have this audio to midi in realtime -plugin, which works almost perfectly, but it won't play two times the same note without my playing another note in between. So my guess is that I'd need to insert some sort of note-off behavior / note repeat rule / re-triggering box somewhere in MaxForLive editing tree. I have Ableton 9 / Max 7. This is the only plugin that I have been able to (almost) use. I'm an acoustic musician and need this for live performances.

I've tried contacting the developer, but since it's a free plugin, seems like he doesn't (understandably) wish to waste his time on it. Looks like I'm on my own. As far as I can understand, it's a very cleverly made plugin, except for this bug. So I thought maybe it's ok to ask here?

Like I said, I know nnnothing. Yet I feel that a more experienced brain would solve this in a minute. Anyone feeling like helping me out?

I am currently working on a M4L device that utilizes FFT, and I have run into an issue that I was hoping someone could help me with.

Specifically, I have created a variable argument that allows the user to change the FFT Size via a dropdown menu. However, every time I change the FFT Size, the device requires a manual reset for each knob in order for the effect to be audible again.

I am hoping someone can provide me with guidance on how to eliminate this manual reset requirement so that the effect is immediately audible after changing the FFT Size. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I am writing my first jit.gl.pix objects and have a question about rotating a texture.

I found this great rotation patch here, but the rotation squeezes the texture like videoplane (@transform_reset 2)

The jit.gl.slab @file td.rota.jxs object works, but makes the background black and i want to stay in gen if possible.

I'm trying to test if a substring is part of a string in a js object. I noticed .includes() doesn't work, the RegEx alternative doesn't work, nor does the indexOf alternative.

Any solutions with js to this basic problem? Or am I gonna have to use node?
