I am not too good with text coding for shaders so if there is a way to do this with max objects that would help me a lot. I am a pretty advanced jitter user, but I cannot figure out how to do additive effects with jitter (I can do some 'smudging' but the smudge effect goes away when I remove the object manipulating the UV coordinates)

What is the Maximum size a Jitter Matrix can have?

For example: I'm trying to do a buffer for OpenGL frames with a three-dimensional [jit.matrix 4 char 3840 2160 60]. Max console says: could not allocate matrix

With [jit.matrix 4 char 1920 1080 60] it's working as expected.

I'm just wondering where the ceiling is and what the determining factor is?

, a new add-on patching environment for Max built for exporting code that sounds like Max. While RNBO will look and feel very familiar to you as a Max user, the patches you build in RNBO are being compiled to code that is loaded into Max and run as you go. When I'm patching in Max while audio is on and playing, I get a very short audio cut when I make or break an audio connection between objects. Is this normal? If not, what am I doing wrong?

I'm running 8.5.3 on an Apple M1 Pro Macbook with 32GB Ram and have no such issues with other audio software (Ableton Live, Amadeus Pro).

I'm working on a M4L project currently that contains several subpatchers and those subpatchers contain multiple instances of other subpatchers.

I'm having real performance issues when loading and saving the device - takes upwards of 20 seconds to load the device and for Live to become responsive again. I seem to have tracked the issue down to autopattr/pattrstorage within the subpatchers. I say this because I removed all autopattrs from the subpatchers and (not surprisingly) loading and saving became really fast and responsive.

I then went back through the subpatchers, navigating bottom-up through their parent relationships and added back autopattr/pattrstorage one by one. Everything seemed to be pretty good until I got to the 'master' patcher. Once I added back autopattr to it it slowed right down again.

Presumably the issue is in Max auto navigating through the subpatcher tree to find and restore parameters that have been grabbed by the individual subpatcher's autopattr.

Functionally it's working as I want. The parameters that are being saved are the parameters I need to save. I'm just wondering if there's a better approach to a large project like this with complex nesting? Would I be better to add pattr objects to each subpatcher (then bind them to the parameters I need to save/restore), and then add a pattrhub to the top-level patcher? Something along those lines. The assumption being that if Max doesn't have to auto-discover parameters via the nested autopattrs then there'll be less of an impact when loading/saving?

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to go about taking a list of integers / decimals and replacing the 0 elements with the nearest non-zero element to the right of list (note that the last number in list can never be a 0)?

The input list is always dynamic and the list length will change with every iteration.

I have a Macbook Pro m2 where I've been developing some Max for Live devices. All week, the devices have worked perfectly. Suddenly, on Friday, something changed and I wasn't able to play audio as I normally do. I identified a new buffer~ error message in the Max Window. 

buffer~: cannot open parser for this file

This has worked perfectly for years and suddenly nothing. I tried everything I could think of. Wav files. M4a files. 

And then I opened the help file and the buffer~ object throws this error on the help example!

Now I've tried to delete and reinstall Max and Ableton (with a clean sweep of prefs). I've tried to enable full disk access on Max and Ableton. I thought it might be a Max update that broke buffer~ but the latest version of Ableton Live comes bundled with Max 8.3.3 and the aforementioned error is showing up there. It happens on standalone Max as well as in Ableton bundled.

I'm pulling my hair out. I'm almost certain my buffer~ object is corrupt but I don't know how to go about verifying that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Otherwise I'm going to nuke my hard drive as I don't know of anything else to try.
