I can clearly see the benefit for most users. In my case, however — and I am sure I am not entirely alone — this feature causes headaches. I automatically colourize all my patchers and all its objects according to their purpose. Since the syntaxcoloring addresses both bgcolor and textcolor of objects globally for Max, most of my object box texts I can no longer read. Of course I can disable this feature, but since I am sharing my patchers a lot, especially to students who don't work in this way, it gets really messy and unintuitive. 

I would really really appreciate a feature to a next update which allows the syntaxcoloring to be local to the patcher. I am okay with updating every patcher I open (perhaps using REPL ?) but it would be super helpful if this setting could be part of the patcher's json-settings (if present, it will be applied)…

currently, I am sending messages to REPL all the time (thank you for this addition) to enable/disable the global syntaxcoloring over and over. This really ain't sustainable I'm afraid..

I'm building a standalone application.  I need to be able to read and write to a text file for saving information between sessions.

I've tried adding these text files with the "include in build" command, with no luck.  I've also tried manually copying/pasting these text files into the Contents folders as well as the Contents > Resources folder.  In both cases, the Standalone App is not able to locate these files.

In my code, I'm simply asking the Text object to read and write to these files as if they are local, i.e. I'm not including a filepath (i.e. "write config.txt").  Is the solution that I need  a more specific filepath argument for the read/write commands?  If so, how should I format this for the Text object inside a Standalone?

Any insights and pointers or links to existing documentation would be most appreciated...!

 unfortunately the only thing i can see is the clear_envelope function which:  "Removes the automation of the clip for the given parameter. "         

but that will not work for arrangement automation, and it will only delete the automation for the clips you select:

If it's not in the LOM Track listing, it's probably not there. Come to think of it, I am not sure there is similar functionality in the Push, either....

Bump! Would love this feature as well. When right-clicking a parameter, there is the option to "delete automation". It would be such a time-saver to be able to do this from M4L.

I'd like to preface this post with the statement that I have no idea the accuracy of Max or Live's CPU meters and the testing I've done is far from scientific.

With the advent of Max 9, I considered using ABL objects to help speed up some development, but wanted to test their efficiency before getting my hopes up. I created a patcher, dropped in an abl.device.roar~ object, hooked it to an ezdac~, turned it on, and the sidebar CPU meter immediately jumped to a consistent 4%. So a Roar object producing no sound costs 4% CPU on a M2 Max MacBook Pro with the fastest CPU and 96GB of RAM; not great, not terrible.

In Live, I created an audio track, dropped in a Live instance of Roar, and it was wavering between 0% and 1% in Live's CPU meter. I then made a Max For Live effect and ran the plugin~ and plugout~ to & from a single instance of abl.device.roar~, the results were identical to what I saw in Max; 4%-5%.

I've done a few tests now between the commensurate Max ABL objects and their Live counterparts and in all of them Live has been demonstratively more efficient. Is this to be expected? Is there more optimization scheduled in the roadmap?

These objects weren't created in gen~, so I'd imagine they're ported using pure C++ which I would believe would provide a 1:1 or be somewhat close in performance, but I might be wrong about that due to the environments in which I've hosted them. I realize Max is never going to be as performant as Live due to them being "hardwired", but I'm still surprised at how inefficient some of these objects are for what they provide.

I'm sure I'm missing something, so I'm posting this in hopes someone can explain this for me to help either figure out how to optimize or burn my dream down so I can get back to programming in gen~.

Im relatively new to max and building my first proper device. My device includes a lfo and i want to be able to set and change the phase. The idea is to have a master phasor~(only notevalues as freq) that drives some other phasors~and cycle~objects, but it seems changing the phase doesnt work when the lock attribute is activated.
