Hi, I’m in the beginning stages of a project installation where when the audience enters they are given a small sculpture with an NFC chip inside (something like the NTAG213). They then tap their sculpture on a reader and that triggers sounds/video unique to their sculpture, and everyone’s contribution is composited in Max/MSP/Jitter.

I need 40 of these readers, and everything I keep coming up with recommends  enterprise-focused readers that are like $70USD each — way out of budget for 40 of them. Can anyone recommend a simpler, cheaper, preferably off-the-shelf solution? All I really need is something that can read the UID from the NTAG and report it to Max and I can take it from there.

I’m currently bringing one of my experimental DSP systems into Max for Live and I just realized something that confused me a bit regarding FFTease externals.

When I freeze/consolidate the device on macOS, Max correctly embeds:

but of course it only includes the Mac binary. I initially thought freezing maybe handled cross-platform externals automatically, but now I understand it doesn’t generate or include the Windows 

I checked the FFTease GitHub and couldn’t really find updated Windows binaries. I also found old forum references to a 

 but I can’t seem to locate it anywhere anymore.

Has anyone here recently distributed FFTease-based M4L devices on both Mac and Windows?

Or compiled the current FFTease version for Windows successfully?

Just trying to understand the cleanest workflow before release.

Very strange thing where Max does not send audio to my wired headphones. All other programs, Logic, Reaper, youtube etc no problems, just Max. Max will play audio to bluetooth headphones no problem. Any ideas of how to fix much appreciated.

I can no longer run my video patches in full-screen mode in Max 9,1,4. When I press escape, the screen goes black, but nothing displays. It locks, and I can not escape from it by pressing escape again.  After a couple of hours thinking it was my patch, I downgraded to 9.1.2 and full-screen works again.

Does anybody else experience similar problems?

  I'm building a real-time visual performance patch to run together with Ableton. I need to keep computation load consistent to avoid dropouts in the audio. Basically I would like to have the same load regardless of the projector resolution (Full HD, 4K, etc).
