The steps to the algorithm are described 

, but the iteration process makes it inconvenient with usual objects.  However, I don't really like the idea of externals, and would prefer a vanilla Max solution.

What do you think would be the best way to implement that?

I am creating a suite of UI objects that solve some situations I encounter when using Max. These are not meant to replace any vanilla Max objects. Instead, they are a sort of hybrid objects that combine different functions and work-arounds I encountered over the years. As well as look ahead at upcoming new technology like touchscreen Macs. 

This is an ongoing endeavor and may take quite a long time. So I should check with community - instead of just presenting a bunch of crazy objects all at once that (kind of) work - I should check little by little for feedback.

The first one is a basic button.  Testing new touch and continuous tracking for sliders.  - Also includes some extended features that I plan to use more fluently later- like the open attributes in popup window even when buried deep inside bpatcher.

I have 3 [param] objects each with a range of 0-100 with different values for the @steps attribute:

After compiling this as a VST, using the JUCE UI I'm only able to dial in values that are integers. I would expect step sizes of 0.5 for @steps 201 and 0.25 for @steps 401. Curiously this is possible using the default Plugin UI of the host:

Tested in Reaper and Bitwig. It's the same for [param] and [param~]. Looks like a Bug to me, but what confuses me is, that when e.g. I use @steps 151, then I do get floating point values in the JUCE UI.

I'm porting a Max for Live device to RNBO for a Raspberry Pi build. The original uses 

 for pitch shifting, and since RNBO has neither object I've been implementing a phase vocoder in 

 following Laroche & Dolson's peak-shifting method.

The algorithm itself works. On a bin-centred sine tone it shifts accurately at every ratio I need (0.5, 1.5, 2, 3, 4), measuring within about a cent with a single clean peak and no sidebands. On real instruments and on granular buffer playback it's unusable, a constant fluttering, at a musical rate rather than at the frame rate or any multiple of it.

I believe the cause is analysis time resolution, and I'd like to know whether there's a way around it that I've missed.

 streams one bin per sample, so a 2048-point FFT necessarily takes 2048 samples to emit a frame and the hop is locked to the FFT size. I'm getting overlap by running four 

 chains in parallel with phase offsets of 0/512/1024/1536, which does give a properly overlapped output sum. But each individual chain still analyses on a 46 ms window, so nothing faster than that is resolved, and 

 source and measurements if useful. Running RNBO 1.4.5 in Max 9, targeting a Pi with a Pisound Micro.
