I thought I was being clever and created a patcher to monitor notes in a specific way (note#, name, & staff), that I'm using around a complicated ableton live set.  Turns out my patcher is stripping out Sustain, which is not what I would have expected and became really hard to track down.

The problem boils down to this snippet.  Even if all I'm doing is replicating notein to noteout, and just displaying the note#, it strips out sustain.  

Looks like I can simply disconnect the noteout and put the below in the patch and it works.  Is this the right way to do this?

Hi, I am running Mira on my 12,9" iPad (latest iOS) to control a simple Max patch (v. 9) with three sliders, with which I handle (in midi) the volume of few tracks on Live 12.  The iPad is connected directly via USB, and the wifi is disconnected, on both the iPad and the MacBookPro (M2 Max, with OS 13.3.1). 

Mira is constantly disconnecting from the Max patch, and sometimes it crashes Max. 

Moreover, whenever I load the patch and launch Mira on the iPad, Mira doesn't want to connect via USB, although I quit and relaunch it several times. 

In order to make it connect, I have to reboot the iPad, and try again (sometimes more than once). 

Can you tell me if I am doing something wrong? Or Mira has become suddenly outdated and buggy?

Since I am a complete novice in programming, I decided to ask you for help. 

Here is a reference to the filter I would like to get.

My thoughts: most likely, this is not a Band Pass filter, but two cutoff filters with adaptive Slope (from 12 to 48 dB/Octave). Moving up sets the distance between the bands and the filter slope, while moving horizontally sets the frequency. The amplitude range on the graph is from (unknown) to ~+6 dB.

If anyone can help me with this, I would be very grateful! Thank you!

How does one write a meta message, (0xFFh…) to a seq-readable file?

I want to insert the time signature (e.g. 255 88 4 4 2 24 8) to D-time 0 of an existing seq-playable .txt file.

I insert 0 255 88 4 4 2 24 8 at the top of the file and save it.

When I reload it into seq, no data after the time signature.

Moreover, it confuddles  the seq which has to be re-instanced to get functional again.

I've been working with max for around 20 years, but almost exclusively in the realm of jitter, so my foray into MSP is very rough. However, I got this additive signal generator patch going and it works really good for controlling visuals, however as I sweep my gain through various [*~ ] objects, I am getting some weird rapid yet brief clipping going up or down the range. I'm sure it is an easy fix, here is the subpatcher I am using to mix signals. I am sure it is something really basic, and I thank you for your input.

I'd like to get the currently playing clip name. I have no problem getting the name of a session clip, but I want to keep track of the currently playing clip, either in session or in arrangement.

The only way I see for now to get the clip currently playing in arrangement would be to get all arrangement clip ids, get the current transport time, and check for all of them if the current time fits into the starting and end points. That can't be that twisted, can it ?

Hi - I posted this on the discord beginners channel already but thought there was no harm also posting publicly in case someone else is having the same issues.  Apologies if this is too basic.

So, just digging in to Max for Live 9 and trying to build some wrappers for my plugins. Was pretty happy to see the new param function which seemed like it was going to make everything easy and bidirectional. But it's not quite working out as expected from reading the documentation.

Connecting to vst~ parameters is fine, works in two clicks. And the live.dials etc. seems to correctly pull the specific plugin value, e.g. hz for osc pitch in Aalto and display on the control in the max device. But this doesn't carry over to the Push display which is still 0-1, not sure is this a Push limitation or do I need to patch it up manually, but not really a big deal.  But more fundamentally bidirectional reading of parameter changes made in the plugin window doesn't seem to register at all - afaik from reading the documentation this should work and in my initial messing around it did work.

When I edit in Max I'm getting the error liveowner: doesn't understand "getparamvalue_typemanual" and the push control is resisting changes if that makes sense.

But when the max window is closed it works fine sending from push / the device to the plugin. Also having a lot of crashes in max when trying to edit these kinds of patches, there are some that work pretty much fine when loaded in live that crash Max when I try to open for editing.

Sorry for the tome, more than likely I'm doing dumb noob stuff to mess this all up so just wondering if there's anything here jumping out in terms of what I'm doing wrong.

(I'm on Mac, Max 9.05 and the latest Live beta - using both VSTs and AUs seems to get similar results)
