I'm trying to get around some of the clunkiness in using Max's built in objects to read in MIDI files (detonate, filein, seq, etc...).  Specifically, I'd like an easier way to read the actual tick counts for the delta time and duration times for each note (rather than msec which detonate outputs), as well as the tempo.  

I started to explore using some existing Javascript libraries to do this, but sadly, my Javascript skills are not great, especially in Max.  V8, Node.js, etc... are all pretty new for me.  I came across this,

I also see midi-parser-js as a Node NPM project which looks even better, and I can load it into a node.script object in Max, but then don't know how to use it from there:

MIDI parsing in Max is quite limited so I wrote a JavaScript to do the job. Using [node.script] in Max, the MIDI information could be fully parsed.  Each track's note events will be stored in seperate [coll] object. Theoretically, the track number of the MIDI file has no limit, the current patch shows 8 track collection as an example. I hope the idea of using Node to parse MIDI in Max could be helpful for Max users.

For some reason I can't quite seem to figure this one out.  I have an 8 integer list, only 0's or 1's.  I would like to transform that list based on the following rule:

I can of course iter through the list, but transforming each element and adding to a new list is causing me headaches, in particular when trying to add multiple 0's.  Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm facing a problem that I've never managed to solve, so I hope someone can guide me into the right direction: 

I need to code a matrix~ that applies gains & delays at the same time

I'm doing some spatialization work with some quite heavy constraints : 

 for the muscles. Everything's working great, that's cool.

Now, I would like to add delays to every single [object - speaker] pairs and that's where I'm stuck! I  simply can't figure out a way to create de delay matrix in max, nest it with the classic mcs.matrix~ object and keep the cpu usage arount 40% (on a M1). I've tried the "mcs.poly~ + tapin~ / tapout~ approach but my CPU told me that wasn't the right idea ^^'

So basically this patch should receive the parent track's name and remove it's first letter. As the title says, this event should happen right between someone pressing "del" on live (or any form of deletion command) and the device actually being deleted.

I have moderate succes trying to tackle poly~ ( it's a lot more confusing compared to pd clone~ ) 

For some reason the makenote into pack  is not providiing enough information ,I need to append it with a midi format module and use the rightmost outlet  for poly~ , thispoly~  to work 

Is the prefix midievent 144 (which is part of the midiformat message ) so important for thispoly~ 

After all it just needs mid pitch data and velocity and gate on-off

I'm trying to receive some NASA data via their API using maxurl. So far so good, I can get the data I want. But I'm struggling to get some of the dict content. I get all keys of my subDict with a getkeys message but when I send the message "get close_approach_data::close_approach_date_full" I have the error "dict: no dictionary named close_approach_data, cannot get value" even if I got the key from a "getkeys" message. 

I think I'm getting confused on dict data format : some are arrays, some are dictionaries, other are just messages. 

So my basic question is : what am I doing wrong here ?

 im just a max user in china, and no conflict of interest here. i saw a post on chinese social media that cycling'74's  developer sam tarakajian is coming to china next month, which should be great news. however the price is kind of surprising, 1699RMB for 3 days. That’s quite expensive, and as a max teacher and event curator, i have to say, it is not a good idea to set the bar so high. 

just a heads up, it might hurt yourself.

I accidentally saved a max for live device with a feedback of information caused by a Live.thisdevice and I can’t open it, I don’t have any other version. Is there any solution ?
