In the following forum post, I found a Schroeder Reverb written completely in genExpr:

and I saw that the allpass filters and comb filters are described in the following way:

I see this kind of approach in all genExpr codes. But can't we write this something similar to this? (ignore vec since it doesn't work in gen dsp apparently, take it as a pseudo-code):

In addition,  array structures are not available on genExpr. Doesn't this create an extreme handicap, how do you all overcome this? 

Sidenote: I also would appreciate if anyone has an online resource for genExpr Syntax. The documentation doesn't seem to cover all the capabilities.

Hey everyone! I am trying to create a stacking looper based on 

 with variable speed and the option to overdub while the groove~ object is playing at different speeds.

There are two buffers, one for recording and one for playing. The recording buffer gets copied in the playing one and the groove~ object that plays the playing buffer is fed back into the record~ object to be written into the recording buffer.

Here you first need to create a base loop with the top left toggle e then with the top right toggle you can overdub to that loop.

I have a doubt about the overdubbing: if I just record a base loop, switch off the top left toggle and then switch on the top right (overdub) toggle and just let it sit there with no input I notice that my waveform shifts to the left with different step sizes every time. I am not sure about what could cause this behaviour. 

Has anyone tried to do something similar? Thank you in advance!

perplex around gen~.curve.maxpat : the += continues to count after the clipped value is reached. Maybe in gen~ is it without consequence, and add 0 or 1 is the same charge of cpu. Maybe one time compilled, if a "branch" of calcul has no more usage, the process is ignored ? Is it more "sane" to use a counter and stop it at the end of a ramp ?

It is once again possible to get Max standalones approved for sale in the Apple App store. The process is now much, much simpler due to an app called

App Wrapper 4 takes care of all the notarization, codesigning, and everything that used to need to be done manually. It is no longer necessary to change bundle ID's and codesign externals individually. Once you have created your standalone, the entire process getting it ready for submission to Apple takes about 10 minutes.

It is once again possible to get Max standalones approved for sale in the Apple  App store. The process is now much, much simpler due to an app called App Wrapper 4  

Steps:

I don't think it is but I have been doing it anyway. I believe it makes the app slightly smaller. 

Hi James, happy I stumbled upon this thread. Unfortunately, even though this is way easier than the traditional way, I still get a bunch of errors and if I notarize the app will stop opening the window when launched. Do you have any guide on how to use App Wrapper fro Max Standalones?

Hey there, thanks for the feedback, Are you using hardened runtime? You don't need to have that selected for app store and that might be causing problems. 

Max Standalone in the App Store (2022-23)

 is end of life since long. The goto solution for using a DMX USB Pro recently was using the serial object directly.

I wanted to start learning to write Max externals, and I chose to create an external for the DMX USB Pro.

A beta version of the package is available here:

 for sending and receiving DMX data from the interface  and

 for use with audio signals (sending DMX data only).

To install, download and unpack the zip package and copy it to the Max Packages folder. On first load of the externals Max might ask you to remove the quarantine attribute. Just confirm and continue (I don't have a paid Apple developer account, that's why). 

The externals are compiled for MacOS 10.15 and later and should load on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

Looking forward for feedback and if there is interest in continuing this little project also collaborators are very welcome!
